Youth Curling

The Galt Curling Club operates one of the largest youth curling programs in the province. The Club provides opportunities for children aged 6-20 to play the great game in a fun, safe, and positive environment. The Youth Curling Program consists of 3 separate programs Little Rocks, Bantam / Junior Intramural and Youth Competitive. Each program level provides instruction, skills development, and game experience. Certified coaches and parent volunteers provide guidance and structure to the program. The season runs from October to April.

Little Rocks

Little Rocks are aged 6 -11 yrs and participate in weekly 90 minute sessions. The program is a great place for kids to learn the basics of the game. The program places a huge emphasis on having fun and meeting new friends.
Little Rockers learn the basic rules of the game, delivery and balance, weight and line, sweeping, teamwork and strategy. After a few weeks of orientation and on ice instruction the Little Rockers are placed on teams of 4 and progress to intramural team play. Each week the teams play 4 end games over the 90 minute session. On Ice guidance and instruction is provided through many of our coaches and parent volunteers.

The Club organizes two annual bonspiels (tournaments) which include Little Rock curlers from area clubs.

In all of our youth curling leagues...everyone plays!

Bantam / Junior Intramural

The Bantam (ages 16 & under) and Junior (ages 20 and under) Intramural Program is designed for curlers who want to have fun in an intramural style of game play. This program is a logical progression for Little Rocks or a great introduction for teen aged youth getting their first experience in the game. New curlers are given basic instruction and learn the basic skills of the game. After a few weeks of orientation teams are created by the instructors to achieve balance in skill and experience.
Emphasis is placed on having fun and building teamwork in an environment that promotes fair play and good sportsmanship. The Club organizes two annual bonspiels (tournaments) which include Bantam / Junior curlers from area clubs.

The season runs 22 weeks from September to March.
