Youth Curling
The Galt Curling Club operates one of the largest youth curling programs in the province. The Club provides opportunities for children aged 6-20 to play the great game in a fun, safe, and positive environment. The Youth Curling Program consists of 3 separate programs Little Rocks, Bantam / Junior Intramural and Youth Competitive. Each program level provides instruction, skills development, and game experience. Certified coaches and parent volunteers provide guidance and structure to the program. The season runs from October to April. Little RocksLittle Rocks are aged 6 -11 yrs and participate in weekly 90 minute sessions. The
program is a great place for kids to learn the basics of the game. The program places
a huge emphasis on having fun and meeting new friends. The Club organizes two annual bonspiels (tournaments) which include Little Rock curlers from area clubs. In all of our youth curling leagues...everyone plays! Bantam / Junior IntramuralThe Bantam (ages 16 & under) and Junior (ages 20 and under) Intramural Program is
designed for curlers who want to have fun in an intramural style of game play. This
program is a logical progression for Little Rocks or a great introduction for teen aged
youth getting their first experience in the game. New curlers are given basic instruction
and learn the basic skills of the game. After a few weeks of orientation teams are
created by the instructors to achieve balance in skill and experience. The season runs 22 weeks from September to March. Bantam / Junior CompetitiveThe program is designed for curlers that want to play at a competitive level and combines advanced coaching, skill development and game experience. Those curlers who are interested in either a higher level of game play and/or playing in Ontario Curling Association provincial events or the Ontario Junior Curling Tour are encouraged to be part of the program. The program consists of fitness / nutrition, skills and drills, strategy development and on ice game play. On ice instruction will play a key role in this new league and we are delighted to announce that we have successfully secured the assistance of 4 coaches who bring with them Provincial, Canadian and World Championship experience. Curlers in this program are encouraged to enter as teams although individual curlers are welcome to register and work with the instructors in formation of teams. The Club is also pleased to announce that a portion of the youth curling program fees Get in the game for as little as $6 / week welcome to register and work with the instructors in formation of teams. The Club is also pleased to announce that a portion of the youth curling program fees will go to the creation of a financial assistance program designed to support young curlers in attending the OCA’s Provincial Amethyst and Trillium Curling Camps. These camps provide advanced instruction by some of the top provincial and national coaches. Full details will be provided at the start of the season.
